With effect from August 16, 2012, all visa applications are only accepted in the online form.

How to apply online.

Please go to High Commission of India website www.indiainjohnnes.com and click on the hyperlink “Online Visa Application” which will redirect the applicant to the Government of India Visa Online Application Website: www.indianvisaonline.gov.in containing the online visa application form. The Applicants residing in Gauteng should choose High Commission of India Pretoria but may submit the application either at BLF International Centre in Johannesburg or Pretoris. Residents of North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces would have to select CGI, Johannesburgin the drop down box and should submit the application at VFS Global centre in Johannesburg. . Applicants residing in Free State, KwaZulu Natal and Eastern Cape should select Consulate General of India in Durban as place of submission and submit the dulyu filled in application to VFS Global centre in Durban.

Please carefully note down the Temporary Application ID number (15 characters) consisting of numbers and alphabets, which will be displayed immediately on the Government of India Visa Online application form. This can be saved to retrieve your application and continue in case you wish to complete part of the application later.

On completion of application online, you will receive a Web Reference Confirmation Number. The completed Government of India Visa Application form will open up in PDF format at this stage. Save the form and print out the same for submission at the High Commission/Consulate General of India.

While filing the online application, please ensure that all columns of the application form are completed and details entered are accurate. The option to edit text is not available once the form has been saved and printed. In such a case, a new form needs to be filled again with all correct information. No corrections done by hand on the application form will be accepted.

Once you have completed your online application form, please save, print and sign and present it along with the supporting documents and the original passport at the High Commission/Consulate General of India. Signature on the visa application must match signature on applicant’s passport. Parents need to sign for children below 12 years.

A good quality 2inch x 2inch (51mm x 51mm) size coloured photograph with white background is mandatory and must be properly pasted at the given space and not stapled. Applications with photos that do not meet this specification will not be accepted.

Only the original print-out of the online registered visa application will be accepted. Photocopy/fax or faded print-out will not be accepted.

The online visa application form should be filled at least one day in advance of submission. Besides, applications submitted at the High Commission/Consulate General of India beyond 15 days from the date of uploading and printing are also subjected to rejection.

Submission of all relevant documents mentioned on the website for different types of visas is important for acceptance of the visa application.

You can use either an Ink-Jet or Laser printer to print the completed Visa Application Form once you have submitted online.

This site is best viewed in Internet Explorer (Windows) version 8.0 and above. You must also have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7.0 or a higher version in your PC in order to download and print the completed application form.
