Global Pravasi Rishta Portal
1. The Ministry of External Affairs has launched the Global Pravasi Rishta portal, which aims to bring together more than 30 million Indian diaspora, or ‘pravasis’, currently scattered across the world. The portal seeks to establish a three-way communication between the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian diplomatic missions and the diaspora. This portal can be used for the registration of Indian diaspora members such as – NRI, PIO and OCI.
2. This portal will assist during any crisis management and lend a helping hand, by communicating with the diaspora on a real-time basis and will have the ability to issue emergency alerts and advisories. It will also enable the diaspora to reach the consular officers and services in times of emergencies. In addition to facilitating the Indian government to connect with the overseas Indian community, the portal at the same time, will be connecting them to many government schemes – new as well as existing – that might be of benefit to them.
3. It is requested that members of the diaspora in Western Cape and Northern Cape may kindly consider registering themselves at the link - https://pravasirishta.gov.in/home.
4. Steps to Register:
i. Visit https://pravasirishta.gov.in/home.
ii. Those living in Western Cape and Northern Cape, please select South Africa as the “Country/Region”. In the “Select Mission section”, please select Consulate General of India in Cape Town and click “Submit”:
iii. Click on the “Register” option given on the upper right side of the website to open the “Registration Form.”
iv. Please fill in the details given in the Registration Form to register yourself in the Portal.
